Office of the Principal

It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as principal of The Rice Challenge Academy. I am incredibly grateful and excited to join the Rice CISD family! I look forward to working in partnership with the Texas Challenge Academy - to continue the work of advocating for and providing all students and families with an educational experience where values and diversity are celebrated.
Prior to joining Rice CISD, I served as a high school social studies teacher, middle school counselor, comprehensive high school counselor, early college/dual credit counselor, campus testing coordinator, adjunct college instructor, and high school dean of students. I received a bachelor’s degree in education from Baylor University. Later I went on to earn two master's degrees; one in Education Administration from Lamar University and the other in Counseling
from the University of St. Thomas. Areas of certification: Principal, Counselor, Special Education, Gifted and Talented Instruction, Social Studies, and Physical Education.
Here at the Rice Challenge Academy, which operates in conjunction with the Texas Military Department and Army National Guard, the goals are as follows:
  • To serve at-risk students who need a second or third chance of success, addressing eight core components which include academic excellence.
  • To assist students in the recovery of credits and earn a GED or a Rice Consolidated ISD high school diploma.
  • To place strong emphasis on the academic success and emotional well-being of all students.
  • To reclaim the potential of at-risk youth through education, training, mentoring and service to the community.
During my tenure at The Rice Challenge Academy, my team of dedicated professionals will work in tandem with the Texas Challenge Academy to ensure that students are well equipped with the social, academic, and life skills that will allow them to follow their own unique academic pursuits and extracurricular endeavors in high school and beyond.
